Our Impact

Disability

Disability is broadly defined as the consequence of an impairment that may be physical, cognitive, mental, sensory, emotional, developmental, or some combination of these. A disability may be present from birth, or occur during a person's lifetime. Disabilities is an umbrella term, covering impairments, activity limitations, and participation restrictions. Impairments may include physical, sensory, and cognitive or developmental disabilities. Mental disorders (also known as psychiatric or psychosocial disability) and various types of chronic disease may also qualify as disabilities, (Different countries, regions, and even organisations often define disability in a similar - but slightly different manner). A disability may occur during a person's lifetime or may be present from birth.

Skill Development

To ensure sustainable development of the society, Buddy Help contributes skill development programmes to women, children, and other underprivileged persons for economic empowerment. Various skills through vocational courses and awareness programs ensure them a dignified life.

The co-ordination of all skill development efforts
Removal of disconnect between demand and supply of skilled workforce
Building the vocational and technical training framework
Skill up-gradation
The building of new skills
Innovative thinking.

Our team not only consolidate and coordinate skilling efforts but also expedite decision making across sectors to achieve skilling at scale with speed and standards. The learner can acquire the certification for competency needed at any level through formal, non-formal or informal learning.

Women Empowerment

Full participation of both men and women is critical for a nation's development. Only acknowledging men's involvement will not be beneficial to sustainable development. Many of the barriers to women's empowerment and equality lie ingrained in cultural norms. Many women feel these pressures, while others have become habitual being treated inferior to men. In the context of women and development, empowerment must include more choices for women to make on their own.

Health

Buddy Help team recognizes the significance of the promotion, maintenance, or restoration of health. The aim of public health was controlling the harm from infectious diseases to promote personal, family, and community health.

We focus on community health, consumer health, environmental health, family life, mental and emotional health, injury prevention and safety, nutrition, personal health, prevention and control of disease, restrain drug use and abuse.

2.4 million Indians die of treatable conditions every year! Healthcare is a luxury which is inaccessible for the poor. Health cannot be a privilege. 70% of India's poor cancer patients lose their lives due to late detection, of which 15% are children. Cancer survival depends on early diagnosis and access to medical treatment which poor cancer patients cannot afford. Sixty-seven million Indian children under the age of 5 lack access to affordable healthcare. 66% of the most impoverished children in India receive no or minimal healthcare. Many children die of treatable conditions every year. Many suffer silently, unable to afford treatments. 7% of Indians suffer from mental health disorders. The poor who experience debt, hunger, poverty, and hopelessness are more likely to suffer from mental disorders and cannot afford medical help which is a vicious cycle. Those in extreme need are usually socially excluded and face a lack of basic necessitates for reasons like living in underserved areas or social stigma of being affected with an incurable illness

Livelihood

Buddy Help attempts for the considerable improvement in the livelihoods on a sustainable basis through building robust grass-root level institutions for the poor. Our team endeavors to reduce poverty and vulnerability of the urban poor households by enabling them to access gainful self-employment and skilled wage employment opportunities. We aim to rehabilitate the urban homeless equipped with essential services.

Also, we would address livelihood concerns of the urban street vendors by facilitating access to suitable spaces, institutional credit, social security and skills to the urban street vendors for accessing emerging market opportunities.

Hunger

Today, hunger is still a prominent issue. Many psychologists believe that not having basic needs met, such as nourishment, can trigger mental illnesses in our population. The nationwide Mid-Day Meal Scheme in India was introduced in 1995 with the objectives of enhancing school enrollment, retention and attendance while simultaneously improving nutritional levels among children.

The government, moreover, claims that local communities, parents and teachers - especially those from disadvantaged groups - should be given an active role and the scheme might enhance social equality in classrooms and beyond.

Education

Education plays an essential part in the development of society. Every citizen, including the underprivileged, is entitled to the right to education.

1 in 11 children goes to work when they should be in school. When it is hard to afford necessities like food, shelter, and clothing; education becomes a luxury that the poor give up. Illiteracy then leads to further poverty. Close to 53% of girls in the age group of 5 to 9 years are illiterate. More than 50% of girls fail to enrol in school. Those that do are likely to drop out by the age of 12.

Swachh Bharat Mission

The 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' is a massive mass movement that seeks to create a Clean India. Buddy Help supports the government and successfully helps to accelerate Swachhata activities for a clean environment.

Our team assists in making public informed about the segregation of degradable and biodegradable wastes of the household, shop, establishment in two dustbins - wet waste in Green and dry waste in Blue, as a genuine contribution towards the Swachh Bharat Mission.

Children participate actively in cleaning the nearby surrounding by picking up thrown wastes lying on the roadsides, parks, and the surrounding areas. Children helped in spreading the message of Swachh Bharat Mission to the nearby localities and the slum dwellers. It was seen that people understood the importance of cleanliness and took the responsibility to maintain hygiene and contribute their service to create a Clean India. Taking the broom to sweep the streets, cleaning up the garbage, focussing on sanitation and maintaining a hygienic environment have become a practice after the launch of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.

People have started to take part and are helping spread the message of 'Cleanliness is next to Godliness.'
